A throwback to late-night family fun.

Dark and moody.

Shadows don't have to be literal.
At least that's how I interpret the "shadows" theme.

So while I was shooting my final assignment, I grabbed a moody POD.

Shadows #2
My friend Natalie hung little ghosts outside on her balcony and this is the shadow on her carpet.

Shadows.

Felt I should return to my roots and look for a little "line design."

Eyes are the windows to the soul.

And hers are beautiful.

Sunday 9-23

The Round-Up ride at the Carolina Fair, held at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The only thing keeping you in the ride is centripetal force, making for a scary ride.

Saturday 9-22

An out take from my portrait #2 assignment, person and their hobby.

Can you see her hobby?

Friday 9-21

Boxes compacted and stacked outside, behind Walmart, waiting to be recycled.

Walmart is doing their part to recycle, making an effort to better our world.

Why not you and I?

Cheerwine.

This is quite frankly the best soda ever, and it's at the peak of it's awesomeness when it's in a glass bottle.

Not only is the glass bottle, fun and retro, but it also has real cane sugar to make just that much more epic & bad for you at the same time.

She's so pretty.

Feature Hunting.

When you can't find a person out in the rain, shoot the rain.
;)

Weather.
Today it rained, a lot.

This horrendous thing had its web in my doorway when I got home from the movies.

I almost had a heart attack.

Honestly I'm deathly afraid of spiders so even though I know I should have gotten it from the other side, (that's what my instructor will say) I was lucky to have the thought in my head to lift my camera at all.
And that better be good enough because I will NEVER get this close to a spider again!

Natalie is beautiful.
I mean look at those eyes!

She sensed my camera and made a duck face.

Thursday 9-13

We tried to find another way to show intimacy.
What better way than with kisses.
oh yeah.
Poodle kisses.
We stood there for 20 mins or so trying to nail the shot.
I was laughing so hard I cried and almost lost my bladder control. ;)
When an old woman is making kissey faces at a dog and groaning you really just can't help yourself.

We were assigned a theme for this week, intimacy.

I think I can do that.
In fact, if I have to photograph humans, I MUCH prefer shooting people I know so that I may direct them if I am going for a certain "vision" if you will.
Or simply because their is that more intimate relationship with that person.
I think you can feel the connection through the photograph if the photographer knows their subject.
And in turn I think it makes for a more compelling image.
Though, that's just my opinion, or philosophy really.
So for today I chose a part of my family, and the way they sleep.
My Godmother, and my toy poodle, Jolie.

Sherman and I went to his friend Matt's house for Sunday football, and he had several guests I had never met before.

Turns out they had magic cards.
You know me, I love me some magic and I always have a deck handy.
So we set down and had us a free-for-all.

This guy's name is Brandon, and he made himself a "card beard."

A frame from my Time Lapse Major assignment.

Two friends get together, see a hot girl, then battle to the death.

What could be better?

Friday 9-07

I guess it's safe to assume most of my Friday shots will be from Friday Night Magic.
This one is no exception.
This guy was trading some cards with my boyfriend.
When I held up my camera to shoot his friend decided bunny ears would look nice on him.

I failed hardcore today, I forgot about POD until about 20 mins ago.
DUN DUN DUUUNN...
So I got my godmother out on the porch and put a cigarette in her hand.
BAM instant cool points.

I like pretty girly things.

This was hanging on my friends rear view mirror and I just had to shoot it.

It's even got a few of my favorite colors!

And just look at that fall off! AHH I love f/1.8!

Skyler's photo shoot with her roommate.
I decided to show some behind the scenes of us photokids.
I shot several and Miss. Natalie happened to look up and frown, perfect. ;)
Poor Natalie always wrangled into being a model.
Oh the price of beauty, and being an available roommate.

Dice and Murder.

Tabletop shot in my game room.
Featuring my mini 6-sided dice, and a Magic the Gathering Card.

Sunday 9-02

An excerpt from my soccer game I had to shoot.
Though I may not get to use this match, because I got rained out.
I'm sure my teacher would have LOVED to see me stay and get rain shots, but I had the school's camera and lens.
I'm not about to risk way more money than I could ever afford.
Oh well.
(And yes Jay, I know this doesn't fit your criteria for a good soccer image, but it IS a POD.)  :)  ;P

Saturday 9-01

Caught being sneaky in Fuddruckers.
Though she didn't seem to mind.
I shot quite a few, but this I like because she caught me.

Friday 8-31

This girl was only at Friday Night Magic with her boyfriend, she kept saying she was getting bored.
Though I think I caught her being interested.
Uh oh, girl.
Caught red handed.

Thursday 8-30

My very good friend, Skyler Brown, bought me this amazing plastic umbrella with tubes of lipsticks on it.
I saw it hanging on the door and thought, "What would it look like to shoot it up close.
Maybe shine light through it.
I didn't go with the shots where I shined light from underneath, because I liked the strong radiating lines of this shot.

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Tuesday 8-28

My friend Skyler Brown and her pet cat, Nikon.
I think, Nikon's expression is priceless.

Sunday, August 26, 2012

Sunday 8-26

This girl was filming the soccer game at UNCG, that I shot for my soccer assignent.

The sun was quite persistent today so I decided to play with flare.

I think it was a success.

Saturday 8-25

I was in Barnes and Noble earlier, and I saw a rather nice guy sipping his caramel macchiato and reading Christine Feehan's Dark Secret.

Mind you this guy looked to be about 23ish.
Not to mention, Feehan's novels are quite...how should I put it?...
...risque.

I am rather certain it was the funniest and strangest thing I have ever seen in a bookstore.

Friday 8-24

Friday Night Magic!
Yeah I'm a nerd.
This man was playing a test run of his newly restructured deck, and was nice enough to let me take his picture.

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Thursday 8-23

My God-mother, making dinner.
I chose a low angle to keep from being boring.
Also I believe that unless the photo is "missing something" without the color, it should be in black and white.
Period.
Just my philosophy.

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Wednesday 8-22

I saw this little bugger around my friends' place, while his owner walked him around.
I talked to the owner and I might be breeding my toy poodle with this little Pomeranian fluffernut!
So cute.

Tuesday 8-21

Shooting from the hip was a fun experiment in Bojangles today.

I like that you cant see her whole face.

To me, it says something about consumerism and the faceless workforce behind the commercial industry.

I just don't know what, exactly it says.
:)

Monday 8-20

Some of my favorites.
Unfortunately I am already forced to use one of my "give me" images.
I didn't go anywhere today other than school and that ended up being a bust so no images.
I had to use my iPhone even.
Oh well.
Here's hoping they get better in the future.
